  The main attraction of Luray is the Internationally famous Luray Caverns, discovered in 1878. They are the largest and most popular in the east, visited by a half million people annually. On-site attractions include the historic Car and Carriage Caravan which boasts a collection of more than 140 antique cars, carriages, coaches, and costumes dating from 1725 and the Luray Singing Tower which contains a carillon of 47 bells.

  The Luray Zoo is another fascinating feature of the town. It is well known for it’s personable atmosphere and loads of animal fun! It also boasts one of the best snake collections on the East Coast, has an interactive petting zoo, and features exotic birds and mammals on display from around the world.

  Luray is a central gateway to the Skyline Drive. A few recreational features of Luray include canoeing on the Shenandoah River, swimming, horseback riding, cross country skiing, hunting, fishing, and picnics in the park.
